Labor Day is celebrated on the first Monday of September in the U.S.A. It’s a holiday designed to honor American workers and the contributions they’ve made to the country. For most of us though, it’s the unofficial end of the summer holidays. Many of us spend most of the 3-day weekend getting the kids ready for the first day of school. But now that my kids are grown, Labor Day has become one of those wonderful, stress-free holidays where a no-fuss picnic is in order.

Luckily, setting Labor Day tables is easy to do, especially if you have red, white, and blue tableware from Memorial Day or the 4th of July. Check out these great table settings I’ve rounded up. Maybe they’ll inspire you to set a few patriotic-themed Labor Day tables of your own.

I love this sweet table from Mom On Time Out. It’s simple but stunning. Trish said it had to be simple because she’s pretty sure it’s illegal to work hard on Labor Day;-)

The byline for the Stone Gable blog is “American farmhouse living.” This red, white, and blue picnic tablescape is quintessential American farmhouse living! I especially love the checkered tablecloth and the basket of geraniums and American flags used for a centerpiece.

When I’m scouring the internet for table setting ideas, I always seem to end up at Between Naps On The Porch. Susan posts a different tablescape every Thursday. I love this patriotic-themed table featuring a bright white table accented by cherry red and cobalt blue decor.

This table setting from A Toile Tale is used on Labor Day, Memorial Day, and the 4th of July. According to the designer, most of the tableware is acrylic and nothing on the table is particularly precious, so there’s no worry about breakage on the patio.

Joanne from My Little Cottage in the Making sets a great patriotic table, too. It’s great that she lists where she purchased all the decorative elements at the bottom of her article. I love the star-shaped bowls.

At the Corner of Plaid and Paisley, you’ll find this great country table setting. Ann said that her inspiration came from the ceramic red hen!

A Cottage In The Clouds used a glorious patriotic table runner and napkins on this table. There are so many fabulous details in this tablescape that I don’t know where to start. Who wouldn’t want to sit down at this table?

Did I mention that I always end up at Between Naps On The Porch when I’m surfing? This table setting is by Sandi who did a beautiful job decorating a table on a budget. Although this was a 4th of July table, it could be used for Labor Day, too.

One thing all these pretty tablescapes have in common is great table linen. If you’d like to add some red, white, & blue or stars & stripes tablecloths to your linen closet, check out Bright Setting’s selection of Patriotic Tablecloths. We also carry a wide array of Checks & Stripes that are very versatile for patriotic holidays. Let us help you make your Labor Day picnic stress-free.
