Planning a Vintage Inspired Wedding or Event?
When I look at lace table linens, I immediately think of going to my Grandma Ethel’s Victorian house. She had a large collection of fine cloth and lace table linens displayed throughout her home. There were all sizes both big and small, including tablecloths, table runners, overlays, doilies, tea towels and flour sack towels and napkins. Most of her table linens were hand cut and embroidered by Grandma herself, her sisters or our relatives.
Grandma’s house was filled with Antique Karastan rugs, old tapestries, beautifully woven linen and lace tablecloths of all kinds, hand painted china and family photographs. Walking through her house was like walking through a vintage or antique store of today. She loved collecting hats, had a huge collection that she wore regularly. She hosted tea parties and was quite social. Tea pots and tea cups were kept out on the kitchen table and most of her tea parties were impromptu small parties with a neighbor, the mailman, a relative or a repairman who happened to be in the neighborhood. Tea parties were an everyday event and lace table linens were too!
In reflection, I suppose my love of table linens comes from my early childhood memories of going to visit Grandma, sitting with her at the table and sharing a cup of tea.
Something Old
Do you have Linens, Photo frames or Dishes passed down from a relative? If so, here is the perfect opportunity to bring them out and showcase them. Checking the local thrift store or shopping estate sales for finds that will bring a feeling of nostalgia to your table is another option.
Something Borrowed
Borrowing something old from family or friends and mixing it together with what you have to create a unique look all your own is another idea. Once I had a tea party and asked everyone to bring an old tea cup and saucer. It was fun to have a mix match of all different cups and saucers.

Quick Tips for Creating a Feeling of Nostalgia:
For a vintage-inspired wedding, a tea party, Valentine’s Day table for two or any elegant setting, add style to your table setting placing a lace overlay on top of your tablecloth or a lace table runner. Lay ivory-colored lace which is trending this year over a colored underlay for a romantic or rustic look. Your wedding color will peek through both the ivory or white lace fabric and tie the decor together. Premier Table Linens even has adorable little lace party favor bags. Lace tablecloths, lace overlays and lace table runners can provide just what you are looking for to add a nostalgic and romantic touch to weddings, special events, banquet halls and home decor.
Add personal items such as old photo frames with photos of Grandma as a young girl, hats, antique tea cups, Silver or Pewter Tea set, Grandma’s dishes, embroidered handkerchiefs and Tea towels, doilies, or whatever else you happen to have on hand.
Use your imagination and have fun.
Premier Table Linens Lace Overlays:
Here we see the Havana Faux Burlap Natural Tablecloth with a Lace Overlay. Both linens are close to being the same size for an almost full length drop.
Lace offers a classic and timeless feel to any event.
Here the tablecloth is more than full length for the full effect shown and the lace overlay is approximately 15″. Both linens are featured with a look that reminds me of a Cinderella Ballgown.
Premier Table Linens Lace Tablecloths:
These lace tablecloths are shown over a rustic teak table. Lace does not have to be formal — here is a way to dress it down a bit. The same thing could be done with rustic picnic tables in a park, country ranch, barn, or vineyard setting.
Premier Table Linens Lace Table Runners:
There are a number of ways to use lace table runners, depending on many factors including style preferences, whether the event is formal or informal, a small and intimate romantic indoor event, an elaborate indoor reception at a hotel, inside a barn or winery, an outdoor garden party, vineyard, or rustic ranch setting. You can choose to use colored tablecloths under the table runner or you can use the table runner on a bare table instead of any style, the choice is yours.
