We understand how stressful it is when you’re setting tables for an event and you notice the creases in your table linens. You reach panic mode, unable to fathom how you could possibly have the time to remove the linens, steam them, and then reset the tables again. Before you consult a magician to do this work for you, take a moment to read this post.
First, take a deep breath. If you’ve just unfolded the tablecloths, they will most likely have creases or wrinkles that will take a couple of hours to flatten out, on their own. The weight of the tablecloth will smooth out most of the wrinkles and creases after being set out on the table for a little while.
If you notice that they are not smoothing out, try wetting them and re-drying them, being sure to pull them out of the dryer while they still retain a little bit of moisture.
If you want to save time and space, try laying all of your tablecloths out on the same table, this way, the weight of all of the other tablecloths will help flatten the ones underneath them. If you choose to do this, make sure that each cloth is laid out as flat as possible to ensure you don’t create extra creases and wrinkles.
Of course, the best thing you can do to prevent that anxious feeling upon seeing your table settings is to prepare and take proper care of your table linens. Since they take some time to smooth out, set your tables up early, if at all possible. This way, if your cloths don’t flatten out, you have time to fix them before your guests arrive.
When reusing tablecloths, it is important to wash and dry them properly. We recommend most of our table linens be taken out of the dryer while they are slightly damp. This prevents over drying and unwanted wrinkles. Once the table linens have dried, hang and cover them with plastic, like you would a dress or a suit.
Taking proper care of your tablecloths and preparing your table settings ahead of time is a sure fire way to prevent wrinkles in your table linens and on your face!
